The Duck Shop Football Pick ‘Em Contest — Last Week

Coach K Fist ShirtWell, the Duke Football season certainly hasn’t gone like anyone had planned when the year began. The gridiron Blue Devils have one game left to prove something and leave 2011 in the rearview mirror with a god taste in their mouths.

Sadly, it will be seniors Donovan Varner, Kyle Hill, Matt Daniels and others’ last games in a Duke uniform so hopefully they can get the Victory Bell back from the Tar Heels and finish their last moments in Duke Blue on a high note.

As Duke’s season winds to a close, I’d like to thank The Duck Shop for sponsoring the first ever Pick ‘Em contest here at Duke Hoop Blog. It’s been fun watching as you all pick games to win some really cool Duke prizes provided by Darren, Kelly, and the rest of the crew over on 9th Street. Congrats to all of our weekly winners so far (Wander won three times and Quizzy won twice, Darren and Silky J both won and the others I’m forgetting.) Read moreRead more

ACC Football Pick ‘Em Contest — Week 9 and 10 Update

Duke Football Gray Dri-Fit T Shirt The Duck ShopThe Duke Football team may have suffered another tough loss this past Saturday, but they’ll keep fighting for wins just like you guys are. Last week, Spherologue won a Duke Football hat from The Duck Shop after picking 4 out of 5 games correctly. He’s a new participant in the challenge and still picked up a prize as Darren and his crew have been providing great ones weekly.

Going down to Miami, the Duke Football team may be coming off three straight losses, but their last two games have been a play or two away so there is hope they can grab their second straight win in the state of Florida.

This week’s winner will win a gray Nike Duke Football Dri-Fit T-Shirt so if you are the lucky one, email me at adam@dukehoopblog.com with your address and shirt size. If you don’t want the shirt, give me a size or the person you’ll re-gift it to!

ACC Football Pick ‘Em Contest — Week 8 and 9 Update

Duke could not pull off a win against Wake despite mounting a valiant comeback on Saturday, but one Duke fan did get one. Loyal reader Wander won last week’s ACC Football Pick ‘Em Contest with 5 wins. The unpredictable nature of ACC Football leads to a lot of missed picks, but Wander got 5 out of 6 games correct.

Maybe this is the week for Duke Football as well as some more of the participants in this contest to put on a dominating performance. Don’t worry if you didn’t get your picks in for the Virginia-Miami game last night as that game will not be factored in to the contest. Make sure your picks are in before the 12:00 EST start of Florida State-NC State.

As we mentioned last week, Darren at The Duck Shop has decided to provide a prize to the end of year winner so keep getting your picks in. This week, the prize is the Duke Football hat pictured in the top left hand corner and it will be shipped out to you no matter where you are on this Duke Blue Planet!  Read moreRead more

ACC Football Pick ‘Em Contest — Week 7 and 8 Update

While the Blue Devils’ football team could not pull out a win on Saturday, reader DukeSean reeled in a great prize. Offered up by The Duck Shop and legendary Duke broadcaster Bob Harris was a signed copy of Harris’ latest book, “How Sweet It Is”. I had a chance to meet Bob before Countdown to Craziness on Friday at the store and want to give a hearty congratulations to him for calling his 400th Duke football game (without interruption!) this past weekend. Tomorrow marks #401 and I think I speak for all Duke fans who have had the pleasure of listening to Bob on calling football and basketball games throughout the years when I say thank you.

Also of note, while I was at the store I had the pleasure of meeting The Duck Shop’s owner and he insisted that we give a prize to the year’s cumulative winner. I know I have said in the past that we wouldn’t be giving out an end of the year prize, but he is so generous that he wanted to make sure that Duke’s supporters were well rewarded. Be sure that it will be something special. Read moreRead more

ACC Football Pick ‘Em Contest — Week 6 and 7 Update

How Sweet It IsDuke Football is STILL riding high with a three game week streak coming off the bye! Just like the #DukeGang are multiple winners, Quizzy has now won twice this season. Congrats to him as The Duck Shop will be sending out his second seat prize (he won a Duke Tailgate Chair in Week 2 and now has won a Duke stadium seat.)

Everyone had a really bad week last week as Quizzy earned the prize with 5 correct games. Must have been the fact that Duke wasn’t playing…

We have one of the coolest prizes to offer so far this season.  DukeHoopBlog and The Duck Shop have teamed up with legendary play by play man Bob Harris, better known as “The Voice of the Blue Devils”, to bring you a signed copy of his new book “How Sweet It Is”. Bob will be signing copies of his book at the physical location of The Duck Shop on Friday at 3 PM. Here are directions on how to get to their store.  If you can’t make it to the book signing, make sure to drop by on your way to either CTC or the football game on Saturday to load up on hard to find Duke gear.

Unfortunately, only one person can win this prize but if you want to read Bob Harris’ fabulous book, visit his website VoiceOfTheBlueDevils.com  and pick one up.  Read moreRead more

ACC Football Pick ‘Em Contest — Week 6 Prize Announced

Duke Football is riding high with a three game week streak entering the bye! Even though they’re talking a week of from competition, The Duck shop is still coming strong with chances for you to win Duke gear as prizes.

Congrats to Ben Johnston for winning the two Duke flags and car magnet last week with 8 wins. He is also leading the entire competition with a record of 33-11. Don’t worry about The Duck Shop being in second place. They are (unfortunately for them) not eligible for any prizes. If you feel sorry for them, or if you want to support a great group of Duke friends, head on over to their website, TheDuckShop.net and get you or a loved one the latest in Duke swag.

This week’s prize is really cool. If you’ve ever sat in Wallace Wade stadium, you know the metal bleachers can get a bit uncomfortable. Sit in style with the above pictured Duke Bleacher Seat from The Duck Shop (a $34.95 value).

Get your picks in here: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/college/18974. If you haven’t joined yet, don’t worry. It is a weekly competition. Just click that link, enter in Group ID 18974 and the password of dhb and get your picks in by 5 minutes prior to game time.

Prediction: Duke 45 BYE 0

ACC Football Pick ‘Em Contest — Week 5 Prize Announced

Congrats to Mike for winning the contest last week.  Seemed like everyone had a tough go of it picking ACC Football games as the league as a whole suffered a letdown after week three’s good showing.

The Duck Shop has been killer throughout this whole thing, offering up some great prizes.  I had the pleasure of meeting the fine folks at the store this week and they are some of the biggest Duke fans I’ve run across.  They all bleed Duke blue, just like you and have an incredible selection of Duke items.  If you’re in town, drop in on 9th street or if you aren’t, hit them up online at TheDuckShop.net

Your Week 5 prize is nice. If you win, you will get your pick between two different car flag designs. The first one is pictured up above and you can go here to check out the second.  In addition to the car flags, you will have your choice of 3! car magnets to “Duke” up your ride.  Check out the magnets here: Football, Small Helmet, and Large Helmet.

Week Three Winner for Duck Shop Pick ‘Em Contest

Congrats goes out to not only the Duke Football team for picking up their first win of the season, but also to user CLE DUKIE for winning the Week Three Edition of The Duck Shop ACC Football Pick ‘Em Contest.  You chose to keep your info private on the Yahoo site, so I have no way of getting in touch with you.  Please send me an email at adam[at]dukehoopblog.com so I can make arrangements to get your Duke Auto-Open Umbrella out to you.

Thanks to everyone for playing again this week, we have better turnout than I expected.  And please honor The Duck Shop for providing these prizes to us for free by shopping with them online the next time you are looking to buy some Duke gear.  With the holidays coming up, this would be a great to stop on over to theduckshop.net and start filling up your Christmas List.

Remember too that his contest is weekly, so even if you haven’t entered yet, you can do so at any time this season.  We are picking only the ACC Football games against the spread (which changes all the time so keep checking back).  Go here: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/college/18974 and enter in the Group ID (18974) and password (dhb) to join in.  We’ll have a new prize for this week up on the site soon.  Keep checking back and good luck!
