Mitch McGary Set To Announce His College Decision

One of Duke Basketball’s biggest (literally and figuratively) recruiting targets in the Class of 2012 will announce his decision live on ESPNU’s Recruiting Insider show at 5 PM EST today. After flying under the radar for much of his high school career until transferring to Brewster Academy for a prep year — his 5th of high school, Duke began recruiting the big man to help fill the loss of Mason and Miles Plumlee next season.

For some background on Mitch and his ascension through the rankings, see the interview I did with his father recently here.  So where will the versatile McGary end up?

Unfortunately for the Blue Devils, Mitch McGary will follow the advice of his AAU coach, Wayne Brumm and show loyalty to one of the programs who have recruited him the longest and play basketball at the University of Michigan.

Duke will now put all of its efforts into landing big man Tony Parker, who finished his official visit to Duke this past Sunday. There have been reports that Tony will be making a decision within the early signing period (11/9-11/16) but that remains to be seen.

The Blue Devils certainly look to fill the center/power forward spot on their roster with a player in the Class of 2012.

McGary is also pictured below.
